Have you ever wondered what math looks like in elementary schools today? Or what mathematics skills our children will need to be successful in high school math or the world of tomorrow? Lance Menster, HISD's Elementary Math Curriculum Manager, will be speaking with Roberts parents tonight, Thursday, May 8th, at 5:30. It's going to be a great opportunity for all of us. Hope you can make it.
Thanks to all of you who signed up to help out at the carnival tomorrow. If you are attending, please make sure to stop by the classroom around 2:45 to pick your children up. I can not send the children out to the carnival without an adult present. If you would like to help out at the booth and have not signed up, we could still use a person or 2 for the 5-6pm slot. The school carnival is on May 9th. We are in charge of the Hawaiian lei booth. I am not exactly sure what that means but it sounds pretty low key.
We have scheduled our 2nd grade Awards Day/Student Led Conferences for Wednesday, May 21st at 2pm.
Last but not least our end of the year party will be Wednesday, May 28th. If you are interested in helping plan or providing things for the celebration, please contact Jodi Earley or myself.
We have begun our last IB planner- Wacky Weather. Our Central Idea is extreme weather affects living things and geography. Our inquiry points will be types of extreme weather, causes of extreme weather, effects of extreme weather, and tools for predicting weather. We will be meeting in small groups for research on a topic that interests them the most (regarding weather.)
