Hello and welcome to

Ms. Punch's class website!

Hello all! Welcome back. We are so close to the end of the year, but there is still lots of work to be done! Encourage your child to continue to do their best work and focus on being ready for 1st grade. And please, please be sure they come rested and prepared! We have had some groggy, grouchy people come in our classroom lately that mildly resemble my lovely students.

We are now in our "This Land is Your Land" planner. We had some great endangered species brought in that helped drive our inquiry! I hope you have noticed your child exhibiting a more caring attitude toward the Earth. Our field trip to the Arboretum was also huge success!
Thanks to our moms Mrs. Honari and
Mrs. Corman who made it go so smoothly!

I will be adding lots of pictures of our wonderful experience to the class photo collection tomorrow.

Finally, be sure that you continue to send your child with everything they need each day. At least 3 people each day say they don't have a snack and another 2 say they don't have enough snack. Hungry children do not perform well. Dry snacks work best and can be consumed quickly.... Water is not needed or allowed because we have a water fountain inside our classroom.

A few points to remember:

-Students should be in the classroom by 8:05 am or need to have an admission slip from the office.

-Tuesday folders come home each week and contain important information for parents. Please carefully review them and return any forms. Don't forget to sign them!

-Blue folders come home daily with work we have done and/or homework to be completed. Please check backpacks for these on a daily basis.

-Please be sure your child brings back their library book each week.

-If you have any comments or concerns please feel free to contact me anytime via email.

Central idea

*Humans impact the Earth.

An Inquiry Into

*forms of human impact on the planet.
*choices and decisions.
*Earth's resources.

Language Arts: K, k Qu, and qu

-Identifying words that begin with /k/ as in king and /kw/ as in queen.
-Forming K, k, Qu and qu.
-Differentiating between /k/ and /kw/ .

-Identifying words that end with /ck/ as in quick.

-Reading with intonation.

Mathematics:

-Reinforcing adding and subtracting skills.
-Telling time.
-Writing numbers stories.
-Finding the missing number in addition problems (2+__=8).
