The School Carnival is May 9th! If your child will be attending the carnival beginning at 3:00, please pick them up outside the classroom door at 2:50. Thanks for signing up to help.
End of the Year Fairy Tale Performances and Awards
Our class will present Fairy Tale plays to parents on Wednesday, May 14 at 1:30, in the school cafeteria. Our class Award Ceremony will take place immediately following the end of the plays. Please plan to attend your child’s play and award ceremony. Don’t forget your camera!
Please ask your child what they need to bring to school this week for his/her costume.
We go to the library on Monday, May 12. All library books must be returned on or before Friday, May 16.
Student-led conferences
On Wednesday, May 21, first graders will participate in student-led conferences. Each child will share his/her portfolio with a parent. Please come to the classroom at 9:15 on May 21st in order to share this experience with your child. The student-led conference will end at 9:45.

IB planner: It's a Small World; The theme: How We Express Ourselves; The central idea: Humans express themselves and their ideas through folklore
In math, we are reviewing the skills that we have learned this year with different enrichment activities.
In writing, we are studying what we notice in poetry. We are starting to write our own poetry!
In reading, we are doing some reader's theater to practice reading with inflection and emotion. We are preparing for our end of the year fairy tale performances. Our acting coach, Mr. Dante, has been coming once a week. Everyone absolutely loves him! Ask your children all about him!

When sending treats, please make sure you send enough for 25 students. We have several children in our class that can't eat nuts. Please keep this in mind when selecting treats for our class.
