!Bienvenidos a la Clase de Español de 7to y 8to Grado!

Course:
Welcome to Spanish 1A/1B and Spanish 1 for Native Speakers.

Course description:
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the Spanish language and culture.

Supplies:
You will need the following materials for this course:
blue, black, red pen
1 mead composition book
1 glues stick
1 two inch ring binder with pockets
5 dividers
highlighter
spiraled index cards/ or ring index cards

You will be responsible for obtaining your materials by: Friday, August 31
This will be counted as a homework grade!

Classroom Procedures:

Beginning Class-
1. Take care of all personal business BEOFRE entering room, no restroom breaks will be allowed unless you choose to use a peso.
2. Come prepared with all materials ready- binder, textbook, pencils sharpened, paper and agenda. Failure to come prepared results in a detention notice.
3. Enter room and immediately be seated BEFORE the bell rings.
If tardy sign tardy log (2 tardies= parent contact) (three tardies= after school detention)
4. Take out agenda and copy the daily objectives and homework from assignment board.

Warm Up Procedures:
1. Immediately look to board form warm up assignment
2. Begin Ahora (you will have 2 minutes to complete warmup and they will be collected for a grade at the end of each week)
3. Answer questions complete sentences
4. Correct Ahora

Tarea:
1.    Homework will be checked daily for a grade
2.    Correct homework using a red pen
3.    NO LATE HOMEWORK ACCEPTED!
4.    No homework= after school detention, SAC
If you do not have your homework assignment, you must write “I do not have my homework” along with a full heading and the title of the assignment and then sign the paper and turn into your class box.

Instruction:
1.    All eyes on teacher ready for instructions
2.    Listen carefully and follow directions
3.    Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.

Group work and class Participation:
1. Work with the person/ group members assigned
2. Participate in all activities
3. You will receive a grade for all participation activities
4. If you fail to participate in a activity you will write a full Grady heading on a blank sheet of paper along with “I refused to participate in this activity __________ (name of activity), and then sign the paper and place in class box.
5.    Keep vour voices at appropriate volume
6.    Speak in Spanish when appropriate
7.    Off task behavior will result in a zero for your daily participation grade.

Class Dismissal
1.    Clean up all materials and clean area
2.    Wait silently for your row to be dismissed

Absent-
1.    Day after absence look in absent box for assignments
2.     You have one day after absence to complete make up work and place it in appropriate folder.

Peso Use
1.    Pesos can be used for the following ONCE per six weeks:
Use the restroom/ get water/ go to locker
Add 5 points to one quiz or test
Cancel one homework or tardy
2.    Fill out the back of the peso with name, period and reason for use
3.    Peso raffle- those students with pesos at the end of each six weeks will be eligible to enter the class raffle ( pizza party, movie, etc)

Successful tips from the teacher:
The most important part of this year is studying vocabulary; therefore it is very crucial for you to study/review the vocabulary 15 min everyday. Repetition and practice are the keys to success.

Tips for studying Spanish:
1. Study the vocabulary from your flash-cards (like a memory game), play on the textbook website (see the webite link above), read and rewrite the words.
2. You can write the grammar rules (notes from class) onto your flash-cards.
3. Make your own study guide or your pre-test/quiz preparation: use old quizzes and/or tests, homework and worksheets. You can write this study guide in different ways, by using multiple choice, fill in the blank, questions and answers, writing sentences, recording your voice or use the Spanish-English speaking dictionary.

la tarea:   Bring notebook, folder or 3 ring binder, and two pens or pencils to class tomorrow.  Also write down why you want to study Spanish and what are some of your concerns.  Example: Many people in the US speak Spanish and I'm concerned about remembering everything.
