Welcome to seventh grade math.  My name is Ms. McNeil; this is my fifth year at Johnston.  Previously I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math at Welch for five years and have worked at an elementary school in H.I.S.D. (grades 2-5) for 11 years. I am originally from the Boston area and I have teaching experience in both elementary and junior high in the Northeast and overseas with the Dept. of Defense.
Your child should receive class requirements and a list of supplies. I request that you review it with your child and return the signature section ASAP.  Textbooks will be available for checkout and students are requested to leave their math textbook at home.  We have a vested interest in your child and I want each student to be successful.  I have high expectations and demand students to be responsible.  I am available for help if students seek assistance.  Homework is not an option and will be assigned on a regular basis.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through Schoolnotes.  E-mail is a very efficient manner of communication.  I look forward to a successful and productive year.  Together we will make a difference.
This site will be used to notify you of projects, due dates, and general policies.  I will try to update it every two to three weeks.  MONDAY REVIEW assignments will be given throughout the year.  Date of issue and due date will be given through this site.  No late work will be accepted.
The plan is to assign the MR on Mondays and the assignment will be due on Friday of that same week.  If yor child has math class on Monday (it will alternate), then you should expect them to have an MR which will be due on Friday of the same week.  If this changes, notification will be sent out via school notes.  Projects will be assigned and the assignments and due dates will be posted.  This will be done at the same time the students are given the information.

Due to Ike and the havoc that was caused, there is a moratorium on homework and projects through Oct. 3.  Students will receive theri project assignment on Oct. 6 and 7 and it will be due Oct. 20 and 21.  A common assessment will be administered on Oct. 6 and 7 (rescheduled from earlier).  Monday reviews will resume on Oct. 6.  MR #2 will be issued over the next two weeks.

November 24-  Period 4,5, and 7 have been assigned a project on ratio and proportions.  The project consists of two parts- a recipe and choosing 5 appetizers.  ALL work must be shown using proportions.  Examples of how to set up both the recipe that has been assigned and teh appetizers was done in class.  Your child should have their notes.  The due dates are different for each class due to the difference in handing out the assignment.  Period 4- due date is Dec. 9.  Period 5- due date is Dec. 5 abd Period 7- due date is Dec. 10.  Period 1 and 3 will receive their assignment after the Thanksgiving break.  Mr's are still assigned each Monday.  Gray day will receive their MR #5 tomorrow (11/25) and will be due on Thursday (12/40.  This is being done so that al classes will be on the same MR after the holiday.  We are working on operations with integers, order of operations, and then moving onto equations.  Have a safe and happy holiday.
