SchoolNotes.com - Linking Educators to the Community
Hello,
At the beginning of the 9 weeks students will be working on ratios, proportions and per cents. Their common assessment on this unit will be the week of February 4.

We will do a short unit on probability and another short unit on functions and how negative numbers are used. After those units we will start the geometry unit.  There is quite a bit of geometry vocabulary to learn and apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE - I will start TAKS tutorials on Tuesday, Jan. 29. They will be every Tuesday after school in the Johnston library from 4-5. We will be using Larson's Math software on the computer. It is interactive and individualized so that students can work on their weak areas and at their own pace. Please encourage your student to attend.

IMPORTANT NOTE - There is extra help, test practice, and TAKS practice on line if you have access to the internet. The web address is tx.msmath1.com At this site there is a personal tutor, extra examples, self-check quizzes, practice chapter tests, and standardized test practice.

Please make sure that your student comes to class prepared. They need to have paper and pencils and a small pencil sharpener. It is difficult for them to work or take notes without paper and pencil. It is their responsibility to have the qppropriate supplies. They should also have their math homework and book.

Students will have math homework each day that they have math class. They should record their assignments in their agenda book. Please help monitor that your child is doing his homework.  This will help them have a good grade.

Students should know their multiplication facts. This knowledge helps them to do well in math.
