Welcome, welcome, welcome to the land of expectations!
WISH LIST: My wish list is simply that; a wish. It is not mandatory for any student to bring these supplies. Every little bit helps.
1. M&Ms - preferably the large bag. The classes will be working on a proportion project involving the M&Ms. One class will take 3-4 large bags.
2. EXPO markers - These are used for individual and review work when we use the individual white boards.
3. Construction Paper - 12" x 18". These are used to create folders that hold the student's work and remain in class. Any size construction paper is always welcomed as I like to do foldables in the classroom as a way to review.
4. Glue Sticks- These are used daily to glue warm-ups, foldables and worksheets in to the spiral notebook.
PROJECTS were handed out for 2nd period. They are due 11/23rd. GT/PreAP students will receive their project by the Tuesday, Novembter 24th. These projects are due December 7th and 8th, with respect to their class.

UNITS OF STUDY:
Unit 1 Real Numbers
In this unit students compare and order real numbers. They will use the knowledge from the comparisons to establish relationships between fraction, decimals, and percentages for equivalences and order on a number line. Students also will order and compare integers on the number line.
Unit 2 Fraction/Decimal Operations
In this unit students are introduced to multiplication and division of fractions and decimal numbers using concrete models, pictures, words, and numbers. They connect the concrete representations to the use of the algorithm and solve application problems involving multiplication and division as well as addition and subtraction.
Unit 3 Ratio and Proportions
In this unit, students write and solve proportions using unit rate and factor of change strategies. They solve problems involving graphical representations, scale drawings, similar figures, and geometric relationships.
Unit 4 Integer Operations
In this unit, students will model and solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of positive and negative integers and develop an understanding of the algorithms involved.
Unit 5 Equations
In this unit, students will model and solve one- and two-step equations.
Unit 6 Percents
In this unit, students develop the concept of part to whole relationships in finding the percent of a given number, the whole given the part, and the part given the whole using proportional statements and estimation.
Unit 7 Variables and Relations
In this unit, students will be introduced to the use of variables in patterns, sequences, tables, and graphing.
Unit 8 Geometry and Measurement
In this unit, students will be classifying angles, angle relationships, and two- and three-dimensional shapes. They will create nets and sketch solids given various views. They will solve problems involving measurement relationships such as perimeter, area, circumference, and volume.
Unit 9 Data Collection and Sample Spaces
In this unit, students will select and use appropriate representations for presenting data and justify the selection. They will describe and use measures of central tendency including mean, median, mode, and range.
