GOVERNMENT:
Short summary of an article in a newspaper, magazine, or internet.  Need the article or copy of the article. Summary has to be no more than 5 sentences long.  If the article is long, highlight the article and write the branch(es) of government that are involved in the current event.
Article has to be political.  Needs to talk about any government level; national, state, or local

Current Events will be due on the following dates:
  Current Event #1 - January 16, 2008
  Current Event #2 - January 24, 2008
  Current Event #3 - January 29, 2008
  Current Event #4 - February 07, 2008
  Current Event #5 - February 15, 2008
  Current Event #6 - February 26, 2008
  Current Event #7 -    March 04, 2008
  Current Event #8 -    March 13, 2008
  Current Event #9 -    April 03, 2008
  Current Event #10 -   April 11, 2008
  Current Event #11 -   April 24, 2008

American History:
Project: Historical Fictional Story
Students will write a story about a historical character of their choice that are covered between the chapter 1 - 16 in their textbooks.  They will use the historical fiction style of writing covered in Chapter 11.  This project will count as 2 tests.
The first test grade will be the story.
The story will be a minimum of 4 pages.  The draft needs to be turned in by April 17, 2008.  I will check the it for any grammar mistakes and return it.   If by this date the story is not ready, 20 points will be taken off the test grade.

The second test grade will be the making of a book.
Students will buy a journal book which can be found at he Dollar Stores.  They will decorate the cover of the journal book.  You will write the story on the pages of the journal.  Pictures need to be included in the story.  Pictures may be drawn by hand or they can be cut outs.

Books will be due on the April 25, 2008.  
On this day students will present their stories to the class by reading it.  If by this date the student is not ready, 20 points will be taken off the test grade.
