Welcome to English 9!

Our Major Units of Study:
Students will study various works of literature, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and TAKS practice and preparation. This course will cover the Language Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

Materials and Textbooks:
Students will be issued all literature textbooks and novels necessary for this class; however, we recommend that students purchase their own new or used copies of the following works to annotate:      
Animal Farm by George Orwell
Lord of the Flies by William Golding (AP)
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Odyssey by Homer (Fitzgerald translation (AP))

Please have these materials with you in class EVERYDAY:
A large three-ring binder
An abundant supply of lined notebook paper
Blue or black ink pens (virtually all assignments are expected to be completed in ink)
Pencils          Five Tabbed dividers    Highlighters   Post-it Notes Planner       White-out         Index cards        Markers
