    Social Studies -- Complete a map of the locations
       of civilizations in Africa and Asia, from the
       Middle Ages period.  Due Wednesday.
    Science -- Read section 2 of Chapter 18.

In-Class --
   Math -- Completed, as a class, pages 182 and 183 in
       the Math Journal.  Worked on Study Link 5-5,
       reinforcing translations, rotations and
       reflections.
   Social Studies --
   Science - Discussed the important points of Section
       1 and part of section 2 in Chapter 18.

February 24, 2009  
Homework --
    Math --
    Social Studies -- Continue to develop a map of
       the locations of civilizations in Africa and
       Asia, from the Middle Ages period.  Due
       Wednesday.
    Science --

In-Class --
   Math -- Completed, as a class, pages 184 - 186 in
       the Math Journal. This required using the
       protractor, compass and ruler in polygon
       constructions. Finished Study Link 5-5,
       reinforcing translations, rotations and
       reflections.
   Social Studies -- Played a geography quiz game to
       reinforce Mediterranean knowledge.
   Science - Continued to highlight the important
       points of Sections 1 and 2 in Chapter 18.

    Math -- Study Link 5-6
    Social Studies --

In-Class --
   Math -- Completed, as a class, pages 187 - 190 in
       the Math Journal (Room 11 has yet to complete
       190). This required using the
       compass as a measuring tool, particularly to
       create congruent lines and triangles.
   Social Studies -- Reviewed the map created by the
       students and tied dates of the civilizations to
       the map.
   Science -

   Attended Mass.

In-Class --
   Math -- Collected Study Link 5-6.  Students
       completed Study Link 5-7 as a review of recent
       lessons.  Worked as a class to complete
       expansion and reduction of similar trianges
       using a straightedge and a compass.
   Social Studies -- Students took a "pop" quiz on
       locations we had discussed, and mapped, over
       the past two days.
   Science - Worked individually and corrected as a  
       class the 'NoteTaking' worksheet, and part of
       the 'Content Mastery' worksheet.

   Attended Mass.

March 2, 2009

    Math --
    Social Studies -- Read Lesson 1 of Chapter 12 and
       complete worksheet on back of summary.
    Science -- Chap 18 Enrichment, 2 sides, due Friday.

In-Class --
   Math -- Reviewed Ref book pages 194 and 198,
       constructing the figures as shown.  Completed
       two other construction activities with circles
       and an octagon.
   Social Studies -- Reviewed the geography of Asia,
       per the summary page of the worksheet.
   Science - As a class we measured blocks, determined
       their mass and calculated their density.
       Discussed these densities in relation to water
       and the 'float' of the blocks.

    Math -- Study Link 5-8
    Social Studies -- Read Lesson 2 of Chapter 12.
    Science -- Chap 18 Enrichment, 2 sides, due Friday.
               Complete the Lab Activity questions by
               Thursday.
          

In-Class --
   Math -- Reviewed Ref book pages 194 and 196 and
           197, learning to bisect angles and to
           create perpendicular bisectors or angles.
           Completed an inscribed circle in a
           triangle, using directions from lesson 5-8
           worksheet.
   Social Studies -- Reviewed the worksheet for lesson
           1 of the Asia chapter, Chapter 12.
           Completed a second worksheet with
           discussion of the questions and possible
           answers.
   Science - As a class we measured rocks, rods and
           odd shapes, determined their mass and
           calculated their density.
           Discussed these densities in relation to
           water, and contrasted measuring volume
           with 'displacing' volume.

          China -- Lesson 2, Chapter 12
    Science -- Complete the questions on today's lab
          activity, due Friday.  Extra credit
          available if the students can find the
          molecular formulas to match the lab

   Math -- Corrected Study Link 5-8.  Worked as a
           class on Math Journal page 197.
   Social Studies -- Worked on the worksheet for
           lesson 2 of the Asia chapter, Chapter 12.
   Science - Conducted a lab activity to witness
           chemical changes.

            BOOK:  old is 177-188, new is 189-200.
    Social Studies -- Complete two worksheets on
          Khmer -- Lesson 3, Chapter 12

   Math -- Constructed angles, triangles
           quadralaterals and perpendicular bisectors,
           using a compass, in a series of exercises,
           mostly from pages 192 and 193 in the
           journal.
   Social Studies -- Discussed Chapter 12, lesson 3
           briefly as we reviewed pictures of the
           Khmer culture.
   Science - Computer class today.

    Science -- Complete Reinforcement worksheet.

           and 203, and a seperate worksheet done

   Science - Conducted lab activity on liguid density.

    Science --Answer 6 questions on back of the
            virtual lab worksheet.

   Math -- Discussed all the test questions for
           Thursday, the type and the process for
           solving.  Completed a practice sheet for
           angles, rotation, reflection and rotation,
           and areas of rectangles and circles.  
   Social Studies --
   Science - Conducted virtual lab activity on
          chemical and physical changes. Corrected
          Reinforcement worksheets and discussed
          returned Enrichment pages.

   Math -- Discussed any test questions for Thursday.
           Worked on 6 pages of math problems that
           emphasized angles, similar polygons, order
           of operations, polygon identification and
           formulas.  
   Social Studies --
   Science - Returned two lab activities and a
           Reinforcement worksheet and went over all
           the questions and answers to reiterate the
           key points to be learned.

            covered today.  
    Social Studies -- Select a subject for a research
            paper -- Direction sheet was handed out
            today.
    Science -- Complete Reinforcement 1 & Enrichment 1
            worksheet -- due Thursday.        

In-Class --
   Math -- Passed back "quiz" papers -- graded only as
           extra credit.  Reviewed two worksheets on
           the overhead.
   Social Studies -- Watched a video on the Middle
           Ages, and discussed the Research assignment.
   Science - Observed 8 common tools and discerned
           what simple machines they were made of.  
           Began work on Section 1 Reinforcement
           worksheet, 'reinforcing' the formulas for
           speed and acceleration and a graphic
           representation of them.

April 22, 2009  
Homework --
    Math -- Study Link 6-9 and review the notes we
            covered today.  
    Social Studies -- Find a family "Coat of Arms'
           or "Crest" or if not available, design
           a "COA" or "Crest" that represents your
           family today.  A picture of the historical
           or modern design is due Monday, April 27.
           Continued from Tuesday -- Select a subject
           for a research paper -- Direction sheet was
           handed out Tuesday.
    Science -- Complete Reinforcement 1&2 & Enrichment
           1&2 worksheets -- due Thursday.

   Math -- Reviewed two worksheets on the overhead.
           Corrected Math Box 6-10 (in Rm 12).
   Social Studies -- Finished a video on the Middle
           Ages, and discussed the Coat of Arms
           project and the teams for Medieval Day

             Studies projects.
