Our next unit of study is called Impressionism. Our test will be Friday, May 16. Students will be responsible for knowing all thirteen European countries will be on the test as well (United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Swizerland, Italy, Denmark and Greece). As always, you may NOT use your notes - so study!
ALL missing work needs to be turned in by Friday, May 16 if you want it to be included in your final grade for this quarter.
The quarter final will be on Monday, May 19. You may use any notes, assignments, or tests to help you on it (but you may NOT use your neighbor!).
If you are missing any work, you need to turn it in soon. Also, to help bring up your grade, you can retake any tests before or after school in Rm. C-115.
***Whenever you are absent, it is up to you to find out what you missed (either from a neighbor or from me [before or after school - not during class!]).
Please remember that I am available everyday after school in Rm. C-115 for tutoring. If you need help, come get it!

Materials Needed: spiral notebook, 2-pocket folder, loose-leaf lined paper, pen and pencil, Reality through the Arts
Course Description/Objectives: This year we will examine the history of art, music, literature, and theater as it relates to our lives and those of past generations. With the addition of a Social Studies component to the AIMS test, this course, with its emphasis on humanities, serves as a supplement to the material you will learn in other classes.
Course Calendar/Schedule: This course will explore the arts from a chronological perspective, covering mostly Western themes. In the first quarter, we will study art from the Prehistoric Era to the Middle Ages. In the second quarter, we will study the Renaissance; in the third, Baroque through Impressionism; and in the fourth, twentieth century arts. Please note: the schedule is tentative and subject to change at the instructor’s discretion.
Class Participation/Homework: This course is heavily reliant on student input; therefore, students are expected to participate in classroom discussion. Bell work is expected to be completed every day and made up within two days of an absence. Homework assignments/projects will not exceed two per week. Late work will be accepted but will receive a letter grade reduction for each day past due. There will be two research opportunities throughout the year and quarterly exams. Quizzes will be given periodically to assess student comprehension.
Academic Dishonesty: Each student is expected to maintain academic integrity. As the instructor, I am readily available before and after school to tutor any students who require additional help. Because I am willing to make every reasonable attempt to encourage student success, it is expected that students should do likewise. For this reason, any form of cheating (including plagiarism) will not be tolerated.
Discipline: The MWMS discipline policy will be fully enforced. Students will serve my detentions after school in Room C115 on Mondays and Wednesdays until 5:00 pm. The activity bus is available for students who normally ride the bus home.
