Hello and Welcome to the weeks of: 11/2-6 and 11/9-13
Information and Stuff:
1.)Writing Tip for the Week-Major titles of books, CDs, movies, TV shows, names of magazines and newspapers, and the names of art pieces and ships MUST be typed in italics or underlined when written by hand...You use quotation marks for shorter works like: poems, song titles, articles in magazines or newspapers, essays, and short stories...
2)Reading Tip for the Week-Use the SQ3R Method for your reading-to-learn assignments...here it is:
S=survey...look over the entire reading assignment to get a general idea what it is about...it is an overview
Q=question or wonder about the material...have an "inquiring mind" as you read
R=read the entire selection carefully from start to finish and take notes on your reading
R=recite...answer question out loud...who, what, when, where, why, how...
R=review-review-and then review some more...study the reading!
3.)No school November 11th-Veterans Day
4.)Thanksgiving Break is coming up now that we are in November! Can You Believe it?...early dismissal for Horizon Wednesday, November 25th...then off the 26th and 27th
5.)It will be midterm grade time before we know it too
6.)LN-this week we are studying prepositions and prepositional phrases p.19-21 and next week the interjections & conjunctions p.22-24
