Students who have turned in permission slips will go to Nellis Air Force Base this Friday. A special event called Aviation Nation will be in progress while they are there.
Thanks to those who volunteered to chaperone for the field trip. The man in charge at the base had a timeline for obtaining social secuity numbers. Those I was able to contact will be going. There is a limited number of spaces on the busses. Thanks for your offers of assistance.
Week of 10/26/09
Students have completed the 1st Quarter of the school year. There is no school this Friday and none next Monday. Friday is Nevada Day and Monday is a staff development day.
FIELD TRIP
Along with Ms. Parks students, my students will go to Nellis Air Force ON FRIDAY, NOV. 13.
WE WENT LAST YEAR AND IT IS PART OF AN ANNUAL SHOW THE AIR FORCE CALLS "AVIATION NATION".
Your child should have brought home information and permission slips.
Week of 10/19/09
Students will take their CCSD Interim tests this week. The best way you can help them prepare is to make sure they get a good nights sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast. We will begin on Wed. and continue on Thursday if necessary.
Students have begun using a Reading program in the computer lab called Compass Odyssey.
Students will visit the school library on Monday.
Week of 10/12/09
English students have finished writing their first fiction short story for this year. They read their respective stories to class today. (Mon. 10/12/09)
English students will be writing some 'haiku', three line non-rhyming poetry, for Halloween.
They will be reviewing 'capitalization' in their grammar textbook this week.
Reading students will be doing some short passage reading for context clues in preparation for the CRT's which will be administered next week.

2. for Enrichment students -
each week -
read one newspaper article
in local newspapers
(subject should be Nevada news)
WRITE A BRIEF SYNOPSIS(4 TO 6 SENTENCES)
BRING IN AND READ TO CLASS.
3. for writing students -
WRITE A SENTENCE USING EACH NEW
VOCABULARY WORD,PREFIX,OR GREEK & LATIN ROOTS
