SchoolNotes.com - Linking Educators to the Community
Last week students learned briefly about the Benelux countries, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.  Students began to look at the major genocides that have occurred during the 20th century up until today.  Students started learning about the Armenians, Cambodians, Bosnians, Rwandans and people of Darfur.  Students are beginning to determine a formula for genocide.  Soon they will be able to determine the warning signs and hopefully  will be able to prevent genocide from happening in the future.

This week students will finish learning about the genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries.  Students will also learn about the Ma'adan people of Iraq.  Students will then begin a WWII project involving all of Europe as well as Asia.  Students will learn about the long-standing effects of WWII on Europe and Asia. Students will be able to learn about the different countries of Europe and Asia on a much deeper level.  This week students will begin to research the effect of WWII on the country of their choice.  We will spend time in the computer lab in the latter part of the week.

Next week students will continue with their WWII project. They will form teams and begin working on their board game.  Students will also begin to learn about Eastern Europe.
