July 2008

I hope your summer is going well. Guess what? Over the next few weeks, you can see the International Space Station flying over us. It travels at 18,000 mph at an altitude of 240 miles high, so it circles the earth every 90 minutes. Because of our seasonal angle right now, we can see it traveling across our sky. The best time to catch it is 45-90 minutes after sunset or before sunrise, as the sun will reflect off of its panels, illuminating it, even though it is still dark for us. The best evening days will be July 17-21, and after that you will only see early morning hours. If you want to find out more, the information is at this website:

Get rest, get exercise, eat healthy, be kind, and read!

June 2008

Thank you students for being such a special part of our junior high this year. God has blessed you with many gifts and talents; continue to use them wisely! Always remember to "THINK" for yourself, make good choices, and work to be honest and full of integrity! May you have a wonderful and safe summer! I will miss you. PS: Thank you for the kind gifts. They have touched my heart. Ms. O'Brien

This summer:
     1. Read a half an hour minimum each day.
     2. Write a summary each day about what you read.
     3. Pray in the morning; pray at night; pray with
          your family, and anytime.
     4. Find a website or book to practice math so you
          keep your mind engaged.
     5. Rest, be safe, relax, be helpful and kind.
     6. Set some goals this week, and follow through with
          them.
     7. Take your litanies in your cars when you travel
          teach them to your family.
     8. Take pictures!
     9. What else should you do? _________________

I wish you all the best for next year!
