Mz Byrne's Performing Arts classes
There is no written homework for Performing Arts. The only things students are responsible for outside of class are props or costumes for some of our performances. These are items brought from home; no one is ever expected to go out and make purchases.
Grades for performing arts are based on:
1. Use of class time. Students are exprected to stay on task the entire period, whether it is listening to instruction, working in groups, performing, or participating as an audience member.
2. Effective group membership. Students are expected to be an active, effective group member. This includes: generating and offering ideas, actively listening to ideas, including all members, compromising for the benefit of the group goal, respecting everyone and all ideas, staying on task, solving problems and resolving conflicts, and bringing in costumes and props when assigned them.
3. Learning and applying the following stage skills;
correct entrances and exits, coming downstage, cheating out, no blocking, staying abreast, and staying in front of props and/or using them effectively.
4. Character Development which includes: vocal projection(most imperative!), effective use of facial expression and body language, focus and concentration, correct manifestation of emotion, dialogue and vocal intonation
