In language arts, we are continuing with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and writing our autobiographies. In math, we are working on math facts and reviewing focus standards for third grade. In science, we are studying matter. In social studies, we are learning about Kearney Mansion.
Our field trip to Kearney Mansion is tomorrow. If you are driving, please be here on time. We are leaving at 9:15 and it is a long drive. We will be back by 12:30. Students will be at school during lunch. I am covering the cost for students. There is a $5.00 charge per adult.
Teacher of the Day lessons begin this week. Each day three children have been assigned to teach a lesson to the class. Your child gets to chose the lesson and how to present the lesson to the rest of the class. Your child can chose anything that interests them: science, math, art, cooking, etc. Your child's lesson may include handouts, visuals, hands on activities, etc. Please make sure your child is prepared and has practiced a bit at home to make sure his/her lesson is well received. This will be an Oral English grade.
Science Night is next Friday, June 1. I will be sending home with your a child his/her scheduled booth time. They will be running the booth and teaching other children how to make a bird feeder to attract birds to their yard to study.
We are collecting oatmeal cylinders for a solar cooking project we would like to do. If you have any you could send to school, the children would appreciate it.
Spring pictures went home six weeks ago. If you are not interested in purchasing them, all you have to do is return them to school. The cost per set of pictures is $38.00. You can also purchase individual sheets of pictures at various prices.
Many children seem to be losing their supplies they were given at the beginning of the year. Please ask them if they have scissors, crayons, or dry erase markers. If their answer is "no" please replace those items for them. Thank you in advance!!
