We will be reading the following historical novels this year:
Maroo of the Winter Caves
Reluctant God by Pamela Service
Black Ships Before Troy by Rosemary Sutcliff (it is the story of the Iliad) ISBN 0 385 31069 2 when we get to Greece. It is a hardback book, quite expensive and beautifully done. It would make a wonderful holiday or birthday present for students so they could have their own copies and follow along in class.(Used Paperback will work as well.)
**I have class sets of the above novels, however it is helpful for students to have their own copies - used is fine - to preview and review on their own**
Another Trade Book I can use is A Visitor's Guide to the Ancient World (Time Tours) I have five copies. It would be wonderful to have 7 and outstanding to have 14 so that two students could share. It covers the civilizations of Egypt, Greece, and Rome so it could be used with all three and it is an example of a travel guide that we will use for reference for making our own travel brochures for 7 early civilizations.
