A letter went home with students this week regarding field trips. We would like each student's family to donate $30.00 to help with the field trips for this school year. We would like the money to be sent to school prior to 11-20. Please make checks payable to BEP, Inc. (Broadening Educational Possibilities Inc.) Field trips include: King Tut in San Francisco in January, Lawrence Livermore National Lab in April, and California Caverns in May. Thank you.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT BACK TO SCHOOL UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS WITHOUT MEDICATION. THANKS.

These are the written directions for mummifying your chicken piece. We talked about it in class on Thurs., 10-15.
You will be mummifying a chicken drumette or chicken leg at home. Please follow these directions:
Get started with the mummification process by Sat., 10-17.
Use either a chicken drumette or chicken leg. Wash it carefully and then dry it.
Using a sandwich ziploc bag, place 1" of salt in the bottom of the bag. Use regular table salt.
Place the chicken in the ziploc bag. Then cover it completely with salt. Make sure that you cannot see any part of the chicken through the bag.
Put it in a safe place and do not disturb for 2 weeks.
IT WILL NOT SMELL! DO NOT NOT REFRIGERATE IT.
After 2 weeks, take the chicken out of the bag, and discard the bag. Remove as much of the salt as you can off the piece of chicken. Don't get the chicken wet!
Get a NEW sandwich ziploc bag. Put 1" of salt in the bottom of the bag. Put the chicken piece back in the bag and cover it with salt. Make sure it is completely covered in salt.
Be sure to note how the chicken has changed and what the salt is like after having the chicken in the bag for 2 weeks.
Put the bag with the chicken away in a safe place for about 2 more weeks.
On 11-12, take the chicken piece out of the bag. Throw the bag away. Clean the chicken piece of as much salt as you can.Do not get the chicken wet. Put it in a new ziploc bag and bring it to school for Fri., 11-13.
You will also bring in a shoebox or some small box to decorate for a sarcophagus. Bring wrapping paper, decorations etc. We will wrap your chicken wing and have our funerary procession.
Be sure to clean your hands each time you handle your chicken piece.
