• Middle school (6th–8th)—45 minutes*
* Students reading below grade level need at least 60 minutes of      daily reading practice

Point goals: The chart below shows the number of points your child is expected to earn. The blue column is what we will be following for each trimester. We will have a trimester goal, and an end of the year goal (end of the year goal is a accumulative of all three trimesters). You will recieve your childs Grade Equivalent score (Grade Equivalent tells what grage level your child is reading at. 4.5 would be 4th year 5th month).

Homework

Manteca Unified School District requires each student to have 45-60 minutes of homework per night, Monday through Thursday.  In addition to math and spelling assignments, students need to read for 20 minutes and practice flash cards nightly.

You Can Help at Home By:

*Checking assignments logs nightly to be sure they are completing work.

*Helping them study spelling words.

*Helping them learn multiplication facts.

*Making sure they are reading every night.

Assignments are based on a 100-point scale. The grading scale is as follows:

GRADING

100%-90% = A
89%-80%  = B
79%-70%  = C
69%-60%  = D
59%-0%    = F

Students in the fourth grade are expected to complete all assignments to the best of their ability. In order to prepare them for the fifth grade, it is critical for your student to learn accountability and to take pride in doing a task well the first time. Students are given the tools and taught the skills necessary to help them achieve this. It is the students’ responsibility to utilize these skills, to be organized, study for tests, and complete assignments. Therefore, no extra credit is available.
