Grandparent's day was a triumph! I was absolutely delighted with the fine job the class did on stage singing, " My Home's In Montana ". They were on pitch, on time, and had excellent expression and enunciation. All our hard work really paid off, and I heard from quite a few audience members who were very impressed. Cowboy hats off to the First Grade!
We've started the Book Worm. There are complete instructions in the Reading Log that came home with your child yesterday. The children are excited and looking forward to seeing our bookworm grow. I'm sure that,as last year, our children will read an astonishing number of pages and make the worm grow entirely around the room! Any reading they do counts, including reading together with adults. We'll be qualifying for a class reward sooner than you'd think, I'll bet!
Please continue to practice all the basic math facts at home. We're doing timed math sheets called Mad Math Minutes in class. There is a Time Tracker with green, yellow, and red lights, along with sound cues that we are using to help the children increase their calculating speed. These papers are all for practicing, so if your child is missing some problems, not to worry- they'll get faster as we go along. The sooner we have the basic facts well memorized, the easier the more complicated math will be.
NO FREE DRESS on Friday, as it is a Mass Day.
