READING & WRITING
*We have begun learning about narratives and each student will be responsible for writing a rough draft of one this week, complete with a plot, setting, characters, and a conflict.
Update: We are still typing these in the computer lab.
We are also learning about subjects and predicates.
MATH
*This week we are moving on to Chapter 3 in math, subtracting with borrowing. Please check your child's math homework nightly.
Timed multiplication test every Friday. Please be working with your child on his/her multiplication facts. We have made flash cards in class they are to take home and practice each night.
HANDWRITING
*We have finished the cursive alphabet!!!! Now we are moving on to writing sentences in cursive.
SPELLING
Unit 11- Vowel sounds in the word L-a-w-n. There are 40 words this week. Please check your child's homework folder for their list of words. Every Wednesday night your child should be taking a practice test at home that is signed and corrected by you.
SCINECE
Unit A-The Life Cycles of Plants.
We will be growing lima beans next week and students will be recording their growth on a chart.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Unit 1-Listen to the Land Chapter 3 "Majestic Deserts". We will be having a chapter 3 test on Friday.
RELIGION
Chapter 5- "The Early Church". I hope everyone received their postcards in the mail from your child!
*Tutoring is every Monday and Wednesday from 3-3:45pm. I will call if tutoring has been cancelled for the day.
*Please remember to check your child's homework nightly, and that he/she is reading at least 15 minutes a night.
*I will be leaving for North Carolina for Thanksgiving break, therefore, I would like to hold parent conferences on Wed. November 19th and Thurs. November 20th. There will be a note home to follow.
