READING & WRITING
*We have began reading "A Wrinkle in Time" as a class. Our next novel will be "Island of the Blue Dolphins".
*We have already completed the 2nd drafts of our Historical Biography Reports. Only one more draft to go, and then they will be responsible for typing them at home. Presentations will be at the end of May. I will have them sent home soon.
MATH
*This week we are moving on to Chapter 10 in math, Geometry!!!! We are learning about polygons, symmetry, area, angles, and much more.
Timed multiplication test every Friday. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THEY CONTINUE TO STUDY NIGHTLY IF THEY HAVEN'T PASSED YET! Please be working with your child on his/her multiplication facts. We have made flash cards in class they are to take home and practice each night. It is very difficult for students to move on to division if they haven't mastered multiplication.
Those students who have passed the multiplication test will now be responsible for completing 100 division facts in 15 minutes.
HANDWRITING
*We have finished the cursive alphabet!!!! Now we are moving on to writing sentences in cursive. Your child must now right EVERYTHING, including homework, in cursive!
SPELLING
Unit 32 & 33- Please check your child's homework folder for their list of words. Every Wednesday night your child should be taking a practice test at home that is signed and corrected by you.
SCINECE
We have come to Unit 5 in Science, Water, Water, Everywhere!
SOCIAL STUDIES
Unit 2 - Chapter 9 "Our Land Today"
RELIGION
Chapter 18, 19, & 20 - "Celebrating Mass" We are getting into the season of Lent. Each child has come up with something they will be giving up until Easter. Please encourage them to stick with this and continue to pray.
