Homework
Week of May 18th

Homework folders due: Friday

Children can be reading books from the library during the summer.  Have your child read a couple books a week to keep his/ her reading skills going.  The library should have an easy reader section to choose books.  Create a reward system for completing books to encourage reading.  If the book has words beyond your child’s ability, help your child sound out the words.  Then have your child read the sentence over a couple of times.  Also, have your child read over the word list during the summer to help with retention of the words.

Kindergarten Celebration Day: June 4th is Kindergartens last day of school.  We will have a kinder celebration that begins at 9:00 and ends around 10:30.  We will be having a potluck for this day. I could use some volunteers that would like to help put this event together.
The school day still begins at 8:15.  The celebration will start in the hall at 9:00.  Following there will be a reception out behind the kindergarten class.  The graduation theme is “Children of the World”.  We will want the students to pick any other country then United States and dress up in a costume representing that country on graduation day.  In addition, there will be a potluck buffet table for parents to contribute a dish.   The dish should be representative of food from a different country.  The dish does not have to be from the same country as your child’s costume.  We should be finished around 10:30.
