Homework
Week of Nov. 16th
Homework folders due: Friday
Monday:
Read short vowel “u” words and stories. Please have students read the words going across. If that is easy for your child you can randomly point to words for her/ him to read or make a set of flash cards. Once your child can read without having to sound out, fluency/speed is the next step. The quicker your child can read the words the easier reading will be for your child.
Practice: the, a, are, is, has, of, have
Complete trace and copy words on worksheet. Make sure there is a space in between words. (4 days to complete)
Math: count 1-50, continue with recognition of numbers 1-30
Research shows your child’s reading skills will improve as your child spends more time reading also if your child can decode words. Decode means to figure out the sounds the various letters make in a word and then pronounce the word correctly.
Tuesday: Read for at least 10 min. a day. For students who have difficulty with reading they will probably need more time.
