Homework
Week of Nov. 9th Homework folders due: Friday
Please have your child reading a minimum of 10 minutes a day. When it comes to reading more is always better. Reading skills improve by reading everyday. The more your child reads the quicker and better your child will become at reading. In addition, research shows children do better in school when parents assist with the homework assignments.
Monday:
Read short vowel “u” words. For students who can read the columns going down please have students read the words going across. If that is easy for your child you can randomly point to words for her/ him to read. Once your child can read without having to sound out, fluency/speed is the next step. The quicker your child can read the words the easier reading will be for your child.
Practice: the (th u) , a (u), are (R), is (iz), has (haz), of (uv)
These words do not follow the basic sounds we have just memorized. Yet we have discussed in class how they are pronounced. Please assist your child in getting these words memorized since they are in many stories.
