What an interesting beginning to our 2008 year! This is a full week of school . . . except for those late starts. The students have vocabulary this week. The words are from a book we are reading in class. The words can be found under Flashcards at the top of this website.
Any missing work from progress reports has to be turned in on Wednesday, Jan. 9th. The students were told that it had to be in on Jan. 8th but because of the late starts and because I did not see my first/second period class on Monday, I have extended it to Wednesday.
For this week, our reading material will be an extra book that comes with our reading program. It is called Anastasia, the daughter of the Russian tsar in the early 1900s. Our spelling words are from this book.
In Social Studies, we are starting Latin America. We will continue to use the textbook but we will also be doing a research project on the Incas of Peru. This will be a way to learn about different aspects of doing a research project and will culminate with the production of a PowerPoint presentation and a speech that will be scored using the speaking scoring guide.

Monday - a Doodle Page or definitions
Tuesday/Wednesday - practice book page
Thursday - practice test with signature or 5 times each
Friday - test in class
