Next spelling test 11/6. Words are generated from student papers.  Students have a running "Personal Spelling" list.
Embedded Assessment 2 was due on November 2. Students have until Nov. 30 to turn it in for credit.

JUNIOR AP LANG/COMPOSITION:

Students need to turn in their rationale and analysis of their partner's TW "Eleven" on Thurs. 11/5.

They should also be working on an essay describing how Sandra Cisnero's uses diction/syntax to create symbols/images in order to develop her theme in the book House on Mango Street.  This comprehensive essay is due Monday, Nov. 9.

We are beginning our study of ARGUMENT.  Students will be considering a state or local controversial subject to research and ARGUE for or against.  While we look at this, we will also be discussing research and the various forms.  We will begin reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote - who is the first to write a researched based piece of non-fiction literary text.  We will analyze how he did this. The story has some graphic details of the actual murder scene.  If you do not wish to read it, please let me know and I will make some other suggestions.

Students have a spelling test every other week, and a vocabulary quiz on the opposite weeks.

The next vocabulary quiz is Friday, November 13, 2009. words are: mendacious
