The week of April 14th the Knights had three matches scheduled.  On Monday the North Mason Bulldogs came to Bremerton Stadium.  The Junior Varsity won 9-1 with goals from Andrew Ambach (2), Wendall McPeak (2), Matt Sawyer, Jose Martinez, Ryan Gross, J.R. Gontinas, and Jordan Geier.  The Varsity team also won 9-1.  North Mason scored first in the 5th minute of the game.  Francisco Garcia answered right back in the 6th minute to tie the score.  The rest of the match belonged to the Knights.  Matt Olson (Danskin) 10th minute, Ibrahim Danladi (Olson) 11th minute, Matt Olson (Garcia)18th minute, Richie Danskin 27th minute, Francisco Garcia (Olson) 38th minute, Brendan Stebor (Garcia) 65th minute, Alex Membrere (Sather) 75th minute, and Brendan Stebor (Olson) 79th minute.

On Tuesday the team traveled to Kingston.  The Buccaneers are on top of the Olympic League and were a strong opponent.  The Junior Varsity played very well defensively in the first half of the game with the score 0-0 at the break.  Kingston went on to score three goals and the Knights one (Jose Martinez) in a 3-1 loss.  The Varsity squad was missing some key players but played very well against a good opponent.  The Buccaneers took a 2-0 lead early in the match.  The Knights tightened up on defense and battled back with two goals from Francisco Garcia only to lose the match 3-2 on a penalty kick awarded to Kingston in the 61st minute.

Saturday April 19th was supposed to be “Senior Night” and our last home game of the regular season against local rival Central Kitsap High School.  Friday, the day before the match, CK canceled the game.  Is it possible the Cougars are afraid to play the mighty Knights?  J

This week’s games are Tuesday April 22nd at Olympic High School and Thursday April 24th at Peninsula High School.  Go Knights!!!

4/14 - The week of April 8th was a busy week with three games played.  Tuesday we hosted Sequim High School.  The Junior Varsity met a very talented opponent and were defeated 5-1.  The Knights Varsity fell behind early in the match when Sequim scored in the 6th minute of the match.  However, one minute later Francisco Garcia answered back with a brilliant goal to tie the score 1-1.  Garcia went on to score 3 more goals and Jordan Sather added one more to give the Knights a 5-3 win.

Thursday the Knights traveled to Silverdale Stadium to take on the Klahowya Eagles.  The Junior Varsity didn’t have a game because the Eagles could not field a team and the match was canceled.   The Varsity squad opened the scoring when Matt Olson scored in the 14th minute from an assist from Alex Membrere.  Then in the 29th minute Matt Olson found the back of the net once again to give the Knights a 2-0 lead at halftime.  In the 55th minute of the match, Kevin Farber had a brilliant unassisted shot from 25 yards out that found the upper right corner of the net to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.  Then in the 79th minute Matt Olson served a ball to Alex Membrere who polished off his boot to give the Knights a 4-0 victory.

Saturday April 12th the North Kitsap Vikings came to Bremerton Stadium.  The Junior Varsity lost 7-0 but had some key players missing from the roster. The Varsity met a very skilled NKHS team. The Vikings opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the match.  In the 36th minute, the Knights tied the game 1-1 with a well executed corner kick from Matt Olsen with runs from Kevin Farber and Alex Membrere to set-up the shot for Richie Danskin which stunned the opposing Keeper (a “double dummy” right out of BHS Girls Soccer Coach Lance McCoy’s playbook).  The Vikings scored in the 59th minute on a well placed header to take the lead 2-1.  The Knights created many scoring opportunities in the second half but couldn’t find the frame.  The lack of substitutes and the afternoon sun and heat proved to be too much for the Knights defense as they became fatigued and allowed 2 more goals in the last 5 minutes of the game resulting in a 4-1 final score.

Games this week are Monday April 14th at Bremerton (North Mason), Tuesday April 15th at Kingston, and Saturday April 19th at Bremerton (CKHS).  Hope to see you there!!!

4/11/08 -

The week of March 24th Knight’s soccer had two Olympic League games.  Tuesday we played Port Angeles at home.  The Junior Varsity played well and fought to a 1-1 draw.  The Varsity squad squeaked-out an exciting overtime win 2-1.  Port Angeles scored first in the 33rd minute of the match.  Francisco Garcia answered back unassisted in the 37th minute to tie the score.  The second half was scoreless in a defensive battle until overtime.  Then in the 83rd minute Francisco Garcia made a brilliant pass to Matt Olson shot the “golden goal” to give the Knights the win.

On Thursday the team traveled to Port Townsend to play the Redskins.  The Junior Varsity played an even match to a 2-2 draw with goals from Tyler Doogan and Jose Martinez.  The Varsity team on the other hand, were handed a 3-0 defeat that same evening.  The Knights possessed the ball for most of the first half which ended in a 0-0 draw.  Then in the second half, the defense allowed 3 goals in a 7 minute period starting in the 51st minute of the match which the Knights were never able to recover from.

The week of March 31st had no games due to Spring Break.  Games will resume April 8th and 10th against Sequim (home) and Klahowya (away) respectively.  Hope to see you there!
