"Full inquiry involves asking a simple question, completing an investigation, answering the question, and presenting the results to others."(National Science Education Standards)

1) Conducting science fair projects wil help students achieve the following Connecticut Science Goals:

     * students will recognize and participae in evidence-based scientific investigations.  These investigations encourage explorations that lead to a greater understanding of the world.

     * Students will explain their designs, ideas, and processes of their projects in order to learn effective communication skills.

     * Students will understand that the process of the investigation is crucial to the validity of the results.

2) Science Fair projects allow for development of other skills as well:

     * Students will identify and solve problems through scientific exploration, including the formation of hypotheses, design of experiment, use of technology, analysis of data, and drawing conclusions.

     * Students will utilize time management skills as they learn to budget their time in order to achieve each level of the project.

     * Students will use organization techniques as they plan and prepae their project procedure, data, and presentation.
