UPDATED WHAPm INFORMATION DURING SCHOOL CLOSURE, MARCH 26TH

Interesting Times. Hopefully you are staying safe, sane and well.

So, here is what is happening to date.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON ARE PREPARING FOR THE AP EXAM and FINISHING HISTORICAL COVERAGE

PREPARING FOR THE AP EXAM

As you may or may not know, the exam is still on, but the format has changed.

In essence, you will now have the option to take a 45 minute online exam. The specifics of the test format will (allegedly) be provided by April 3. Please see the following URL for information: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/coronavirus-update. Most importantly, the exam will only cover periods 1-6.

With all this in mind, I have opened all AP Board resources for you to practice all FRQs in Units 1-6 as well as unit 1 MCQs. (we didn’t do these). The FRQS have not been formally assigned, but are for practice, except for unit 8-9. (which I strongly encourage).

Aso, if possible, good to have an AP test prep book by this time, especially since the school closure now extends to May 1. Obviously focus on units 1-6.

FINISHING HISTORICAL COVERAGE

Despite the cessation of content coverage for the AP exam at Unit 6, it is important that we attempt to finish the required content. Why? The purpose of the course is not only to pass the AP exam, but to have a well-rounded understanding of modern world history to understand today's world. Without the 20th century, this course would be a story without an ending. Also, the final units are important topics for when you will study them in APUSH next year. Not convinced? If we return to school on May 4, there could be a cumulative assessment covering units 7-9 around that time. I’ll keep you informed.

You will find under “files” on my Schoolnotes page the instructions for Unit 8.

The live stream AP Board webinars are also important for learning the upcoming units (see the above URL).

WHAT ABOUT UNIT 7 WORK?

Obviously, I’m able to see your MCQs (which are due 3/26).  Unless otherwise informed, all other work assigned during the closure, will be due on May 4 (as of now!) As always, I recommend you read and work incrementally, and not do everything on Sunday, May 3rd Meanwhile, I will continue to attempt to gain access to “Google Classroom” which will allow you to turn in your work online. Wish me luck.

WHAT ABOUT THE GRADED DBQs?

I’ll be working on those as long as you’re working on this.

PLEASE REGULARLY CHECK MY “WEBSITE” FOR FURTHER UPDATES

Any questions, contact my teacher email, [email protected]
