Upcoming Events

Hello Parents and Patriots!

We have begun reading Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  Students will explore Chapters 1-3 and engage in a variety of reading strategies.  We will visit the Media Center for an orientation on Friday August 31, 2012.   Students will be responsible for reading 18-hours outside of class and keeping a log of their progress.    In addition, students will complete two card catalog assignments on the books they read.

Parents please work with your students in completing assignments.   There was a major project over the weekend and many students failed to complete the assignment. The "LOTS Dictionary" was a two-day in class assignment that extended to the weekend.  This project counts as a test grade (40% of your students grade).

READING SKILLS 8th Grade, will begin reading Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.   This science fiction story follows a main character Charlie who is mentally handicapped.   Students will engage in several pre-reading activies before beginning the text.
