GRADE 7 MATHEMATICS
We are now starting Chapter 9 and will spend just over 2 weeks on it. For next Monday we will look at the first 2 sections, 9.1 and 9.2. There will be practice questions but NO hand in assignment until about 2 weeks from now when we finish the whole chapter.
SECTION 9.1 Exploring Integer Addition - page 310
Students should copy, understand and learn the definitions of 'zero pair' (p.310) and ' opposite integers' (p. 311), read carefully and understand Examples 1 and 2 on p. 311-312 as well as Key Ideas on p. 313.
For practice complete page 313-315 # 5,6, 9-12, 15 and 16.
SECTION 9.2 Add Integers - page 317
Students should read carefully and understand Examples 1 and 2 on p. 317-318, as well as Key Ideas on page 319.
Work on Page 320-321 # 5-7 and 9-13.

GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS
This week will be spent on finishing Chapter 2. We will cover:
SECTION 2.3 Proportional Reasoning - page 63
Students should copy in their notes and learn the definition of 'proportion' (p. 64),
read carefully and understand Example 1 and 2 on pages 64-66 as well as Key Ideas on page 66.
For practice do questions 4 - 22 on page 67/68. Show your work similarly to the examples in the book. Remember that a lot of this has to do with equivalent fractions and missing terms.
*** The HAND IN ASSIGNMENT for this Chapter will be page 72-73 # 1-12, for next Monday, May 11.
GRADE 7 RC - ELA
This week we will work on Chapter 27 from your Spelling book.
Students should practice and master the spelling of the list words on page 113.
Students should work on page 113 all, page 114 # 1, 2, page 115 all, page 116 all. Please hand in your work by next Monday, May 4.

This week we should finish chapter 8
SECTION 8.4 Interpreting Circle Graphs - page 287
Students should copy in their notes and learn the definitions of 'circle graph' and ' sector' (p. 287)
Students should read carefully and understand the Example on page 288-289 and KEY IDEAS on page 289.
For practice/exercise, work on page 290-291 #3-8. Show your work as much as possible. Remember that finding percent of a number can be done : ex. 46 % of 500 = 0.46 x 500 = 230
SECTION 8.5 Create Circle Graphs - page 292
Students should copy and learn the definition of a 'central angle' (p. 292) and read carefully and understand clearly Example 1 on page 293. Ignore Example 2 on the next page.
For practice work on page 296-297 # 4-6 and page 299 # 21, 22.
*** THE HAND IN ASSIGNMENT for Chapter 8 is : page 300-301 # 1-7, 9-13. DUE MONDAY MAY 4 (next Monday)

This week should be spent on Section 2.2 RATES - p. 55
Students should copy in their notes and learn the definitions for 'rate' (p. 55) and 'unit rate' (p. 56), read carefully Examples 1 and 2 on pages 56-58 as well as the KEY IDEAS on page 59.
For practice please do page 60-62 # 4-16 as well as page 70-71 # 11-14.
This is for students to work on to master the topic, not for handing in. The hand in assignment will be announced next Monday and will be due on May 11 when we finish the chapter.
