Labs for:

Friday, 1/23/15

4-18 & 4-19: Students tested predictions on whether or not the Earth is mostly water or mostly land by picking blue or green beads out of a bag and tossing around a beach ball designed like a globe. Students then made pie charts to represent their data.

Wednesday, 1/21/15

4-18 & 4-19: Students simulated a Watershed by passing beads (water) from the top of a river to the empty basin at the bottom. This occurred during different seasons (changes in speed) to show how much water is collected during specific times of the year.  We then graphed our results on Thursday, 1/22/15.

Tuesday, 1/20/15

4-18 & 4-19: To prepare for our Water Cycle stories, we will take a journey through the Water Cycle by playing a game. This game will help us investigate the different places water can travel and how it travels to those places. Students just need to have a pencil with them. I will provide them with a key chain and beads to create their takeaway. **Students can use these key chains to help them decide how to travel in their Water Droplet stories.

Key Chain Color Code:

River--dark blue

Ocean--teal blue

Lake--blue with "glitter"

Glacier--knots

Groundwater--orange

Plant--green

Animal--black

Soil--brown

Clouds--white

Friday, 1/16/15

4-18 & 4-19: Our Terrariums will be hanging on our windows during the next few weeks. We will be able to see our water cycle "occur".
