Dear Parents,

In this time of schooling from home, we have a great resource available for music. Musicplayonline.com has been a big part of my teaching in class, and many of the songs we sing and the recorder work that we do comes from that website. It has always been available for students to access at home, but I think they have made more activities available to students at this time. I will be posting specific suggestions by grade level or in grade level groupings. The good news is that students are already fairly familiar with this website and even have their favourite activities on it.

For Grades 4 and 5, I will be making use of the seesaw platform so that they can work on Recorder Karate and upload videos of their playing for assessment. Those families will receive more instructions - of course, if simply taking a video and emailing it works and that is simpler, then that will also be fine.

Music is a great consolation and occupation in time of isolation, and beautiful music has the power to lift our spirits. Setting your radio to Classic 107.1 would be not only great music education for your children but would probably also have a very positive impact on everyone’s spirits.

God bless you all at this time.
