Dear Parents, My name is George Villacres and I’m your child’s music teacher at Belle Creek. I wanted to let you know of all the exciting and fun times we will be having in our music class this year! My goal for your child is a 30-year plan. I don’t just want to prepare your child for the next grade or for middle school music, I want them to have music be a part of their whole lives and their children’s lives as well. I want your child to be able to keep a steady beat at a concert or a sporting event. I want your child to be able to dance artfully at their or their friend’s weddings. I want your child to be able to sing their baby a lullaby in a beautiful tone. I want your child to appreciate their talents and the talents of others. Throughout this school year, I’ll be sending home “Ask Me to Sing” sheets for the elementary students. These will be the lyrics to simple songs we’ve learned in class. I would love if your child would sing these songs to 3 different people (family members, neighbors, or even pets!) in person, over the phone, FaceTime, or Skype. Music class is also about instilling a love for music in each and every child. Positive encouragement and support is essential for their musical growth. Please keep these sheets throughout the year, as they will make a song collection book your child has learned and memorized throughout their Belle Creek music experience.
