After getting the emotional support animal letter, you will be eligible to travel with your emotional support animal. But this letter is valid for up to a year and can be renewed annually. With the ESA letter for housing, you can also live with your pet.

American Airlines

American Airlines require supporting documents such as an emotional support animal letter that is issued within the year of travel. The letter must be written by a licensed mental health professional or a medical doctor. The ESA letter should be given to the airline 48 hours before the scheduled flight.    

American Airlines has set requirements for passengers who fly with their ESAs are:  

• Only one ESA is allowed per person.
• The animal must be four months or older.
• ESA must be well-behaved and clean
• Lap animals must be smaller so that it can easily sit under your seat.
• Get approval before the flight; if you arrive at the airport and need approval, it is not allowed.
• If you keep the animal in a kennel, it must fit under the seat in front of you.
• Emotional support animals cannot be sitting in the exit row.
• If the animal is too heavy, then rebook on a flight with more open seats or buy a ticket for the animal.
• Cats, Dogs, and miniature horses are the only animals that are accepted by American Airlines.
• Put a martingale collar to your dog for prosperity reason. 

Delta Airlines

Delta Airlines recommends the ESA owners to notify the airline that you can travel with animals. The animal stays on the floor beside the individual’s seat. The delta airline requires the ESA to be well-behaved and also need some documentation before travel.   

The following requirements of the delta airlines are:

• One ESA per person
• Emotional support animals must be sitting on the floor or the passenger’s lap.
• ESA cannot sit in the exit row
• The animal must fit into the footprint of the passenger’s seat.  

Delta Airlines requires that you submit three additional forms, i.e., mental health professional form, animal training form, and veterinary health form.

Jet Blue

JetBlue also requires an emotional support animal registration certificate when traveling with your ESA. If you have a mental health disability issue, you can travel with ESA without any additional charges. The passenger must submit the form before 48 hours of departure.    

The JetBlue requirements for the ESA are:

• The passenger must notify the airline before 48 hours to depart.
• Cats, Dogs, and miniature horses are the only animals that are accepted by JetBlue.

Southwest Airlines

• An emotional support animal behaves well and does not harm any passenger.
• ESA must not extend into the path.

Like Delta Airlines, United Airlines also requires that you submit three additional forms, i.e., mental health professional form, animal training form, and veterinary health form.

Alaska Airline

Alaska Airline requires that the ESA letter should be issued not more than a year before traveling. The licensed medical professional must write the ESA letter. The Alaska Airline has also required to submit three additional forms i.e., mental health professional form and animal health advisory form.

Alaska Airlines won’t accept these animals as ESA.

Air Canada

Air Canada airline will allow emotional support dogs and did not allow any other pet as a comfort animal. Cats, birds, and miniature horses are not allowed in the flight.  The ESA letter and other documents are required when you travel to Air Canada.
