December 15, 2014
Parents,
This week I will be out of the classroom due to a personal matter. To ensure my students are not missing valuable instruction time, my substitute is Mrs. Boutte, a retired certified teacher. My lesson plans this week are not “fluff” plans, meaning all assignments should be treated as if I am giving them. The assignments given this week will also go towards the 2nd nine weeks grades. There are two very important assignments that I will be picking up. The first is the Informative Writing Piece. We have worked on this piece in class for the last 3 weeks. This week students should only be writing the final draft. Students will put together a book in class and complete the final draft by Friday, Dec. 19, 2014. The second assignment is the Reading assessment on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014. I have prepared a study guide for students and provided the correct responses for the sub. Students should have this information Thursday. Students will discuss literature throughout the week with sub as they complete my lesson plans. If your child receives modifications, such as test read aloud, limited choices, please know that I will re-test and modify any changes and grades if needed.
On Wednesday we will have a Christmas party. Because of previous behavior issue with subs, some students are in jeopardy of participating in this holiday celebration. Students will be given the opportunity to show positive behavior and leadership. If a student cannot adhere to the expectations, he or she will not participate in the Christmas party and will receive a lunch detention or state referral if needed. If you have any questions concerning the Christmas party, please contact Mrs. McQuade and she will refer you to our Room Moms who are organizing the party.
Thank you so much for your help this week. Happy Holidays!
