Week of Feb 6 - 9

Continue learning counts, names and solfege through written warm-ups.

Written Warm-up #22-28 is due this Friday: Feb 9th

Continue learning repertoire with correct posture, breathing, vocal technique, diction, phrasing, dynamics, etc.

Memorize vocal part and lyrics to: "Hallelujah", "Amazing Grace", "Over the Rainbow"

Continue to practice: "Try Everything", "Bonse Aba", "Amani Utupe", "Let There Be Peace", "Thank You, Soldiers", "National Anthem", and "Alma Mater"

IMPORTANT DATES:

March 8 - Talent Show @ 6:30pm (mandatory)

May 2 - NYC Trip to see Aladdin - All Day $175 ($50 Deposit due Friday, Feb 9th)

May 7 - Choir Banquet @ 6:30- 8:30pm

May 9 - Spring Choir Concert @ 6:30pm Cooke Elem (mandatory)

BRING IN YOUR $50 Deposit made payable to DMAMA by Friday, Feb 9th!

Consider performing an act for the Talent Show on March 8th!

Week of Feb 6 - 9

Continue memorizing the different instruments in the Instrument Families: Brass, Woodwind, String, Percussion (Keyboard)

Be sure to know why an instrument is classified in that family.

Memorize the terms - aerophones, chordophones, idiophones, membranophones

Know which is the smallest (highest) and largest (lowest) instrument in each family

There will be a test on Thursday.

Continue memorizing all of the white keys on the piano A - G with anchor keys of C & F

Continue memorizing the finger numbers of both hands (R - 1,2,3,4,5 & L - 5,4,3,2,1) and what keys they play in C hand position

Continue memorizing the notes on the Treble Clef Lines: E G B D F "Every Good Boy Does Fine on the line"

Continue memorizing the notes on the Treble Clef Spaces: F A C E "It spells FACE in the space."

Continue memorizing the notes on the Bass Clef Lines: G B D F A "Good Boys Do Fine Always"

Continue memorizing the notes on the Bass Clef Spaces: A C E G "All Cows Eat Grass"

Memorize the terms and symbols: Staff (5 lines, 4 spaces), Clef, bar line, double bar line, measure, time signature, ledger line

Continue playing and passing off songs in the piano book.

Consider performing in the Talent Show on March 8th.

Week of Feb 6 - 9

Continue learning theater games that reinforce good acting skills and techniques. (Schwoof, Red Ball, May I?, The Big Wind Blows, Director Says)

projection, diction, enunciation, pronunciation, posture, breathing, eye contact, facial expressions, focus, concentration, energy, enthusiasm, positive attitude, improvisation, memorization, sequence, order, etc.

Continue to memorize the "Fill in the Blank" theater sayings. There will be a test on Thursday on the 31 sayings.

Continue memorizing the 9 stage areas plus the Right and Left wings backstage. Continue working on upstage & downstage. There will be a quiz on Wednesday.

Begin working on Pantomime through activities.

Begin improvisation scenes and activities.

Consider performing in the Talent Show on March 8th!

Week of Jan 29 - Feb 2

Continue working on written warm-ups 22 - 28 - DUE Friday, 2/2/18

Continue working on proper vocal technique: vowel production, tone, breathing, posture (feet flat on the floor, shoulders back, chest high, chin down, arms down at side, relaxed hands, dropped jaw)

Continue working on reading notation in both treble and bass clef, dotted rhythms, sixteenth note patterns

Continue working parts on repertoire: Amazing Grace, Hallelujah, Over the Rainbow

Week of Jan 29 - Feb 2

Signature page & Cadet Info Form are OVERDUE - they were due 1/26/18 - TURN IN ASAP!

Continue to memorize the 9 stage areas: UR, UC, UL, SR, CS, SL, DR, DC, DL,

Continue to memorize the other stage terms: wings, stage, apron, proscenium arch, proscenium line, backstage, audience, house, orchestra pit

Continue working on both personal goals and class goals

Continue to work on technique: vocal production, projection, diction, enunciation, eye contact, body language, verbal & non-verbal communication, observation, coordination, multi-tasking, theater vocabulary
