GRADE 7 MATHEMATICS

We will start Chapter 11 Solving Equations and this will take 2 weeks and conclude our grade 7 Math on Monday, June 22. This week we will look at the first 2 sections.
Section 11.1 Expressions and Equations - p. 390
Students will write and learn the definitions of ' writing expressions' and ' equation' on p. 390-391, read carefully Example 1 and 2 on p. 391-392 as well as Key Ideas on p. 392.
For practice do p. 393-394 # 3-12.
Section 11.2 Solve one step equations x+a=b - page 395
Students should read carefully and understand Examples 2 and 3 on p. 396-397. For practice do p. 399-401 # 9-12 and 15-17.
GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS

We will finish chapter 7 this week.
Section 7.3 Volume of Cylinders - p. 262
Students will read carefully Examples 1 and 2 on p. 263-264 as well as Key Ideas on p. 264 and apply these to the following practice questions: p. 265-267 # 4-9, 12, 14, 16. Show your work.
Section 7.4 Solving problems involving prisms and cylinders - p. 268
Students will read carefully Examples 1,2,and 3 on p. 269-272 as well as Key Ideas on p. 272 and apply these to the following practice questions : p. 273-275 # 4,5,8,12 and 15. Show your work.
HAND IN ASSIGNMENT for ch. 7 : p. 278-279 # 1-14 due Monday, June 15.
GRADE 7 RC ELA
*** Please return all Spelling Books and Math Textbooks to school by June 15 !
This will be your last assignment this year, due in 2 weeks, June 15 or earlier.
Take some time to think about the topic, write a rough draft and later hand in a good copy.
Topic: "What is Happiness? What does this mean to you and compare to what the world (mass media, advertisements, movies, etc) tells us happiness is. You might want to include also what you have learned in Religion as far as what God says about happiness. Length - ap. 2 pages double spaced.
GRADE 7 MATHEMATICS
*** PLEASE READ THE JUNE 1 LETTER ON THE SCHOOL WEBSITE REGARDING COMING TO CLASS ON WEDNESDAY MORNINGS.
This week we will finish chapter 10.
Section 10.4 Graphing Linear Relations - page 372.
Students will copy and learn the definition of 'linear relation' (p.372), read carefully and understand Example 1 and 2 on p. 37-376 as well as Key Ideas on p. 377.
For practice, work on p. 378-381 # 3-8, 11, 12, 14. Answers will require using sentences to explain as well as your proper graphing skills (and ruler) to draw graphs.
*** Hand In Assignment for the whole chapter - p. 384-385 # 1-4, 6,7 - due Monday June 8
GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS

We are now starting Chapter 7 Volume and will spend 2 weeks on it. Let's look at the first 2 sections this week.
Section 7.1 Understanding Volume - page 246
Students will copy and learn the definitions of 'base of a prism or cylinder', 'height of prism or cylinder' (p.246) and 'volume' (p.247). Please read carefully and understand Example 1 and 2 on p. 247/248.
For practice work on page 250-253 # 3-8, 10,11,12. Please show your work in detail.
Section 7.2 Volume of a Prism - page 259
Students should read carefully and understand Example 1 and 2 on p. 255-256 as well as Key Ideas on p. 257.
For practice work on p. 258-261 # 4-10, 11,13,16,19. Please show your work and pay attention to the correct units for area and volume.
