We will continue our chemistry unit with a video on the atomic structure and properties of water. We will balance simple chemical equations and review for the test on Monday. We will complete our study of chemistry with a summative on the second half of the unit. Our summative will be on Jan. 8 (Tuesday). Please see the calendar for a list of topics include on the test. The rest of the week will be spent on the earth science unit with a overview of the rock cycle, tectonic plate movement and resulting geological events, volcanoes and earthquakes. Optional geological research paper due Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
We will continue or study of chemistry and atomic models . We will use these models to demonstrate covalent, ionic and metallic bonding. We will make simple molecules by balancing atomic charges. The Bohr Model project is due on Wednesday of this week. Please follow the rubric for scoring to get the maximum number of points offered
We will continue our study of forensic entomology, and how it can assist in the determination of the PMI for a victim. On Monday in class, a project was assigned to research a part of a case in which entomology was used to solve for PMI. Please see the attached file for instructions. The project will be due on Thursday, before we leave for break, the majority of the project will be completed in class.
This week we will complete the blood spatter unit with a blood typing lab, then a quiz on Wednesday, December 12. After that, we will start a unit on forensic entomology.
This week we will complete our study of the periodic table, atomic structure and elements and their properties The Bohr Model project will be assigned on Tuesday, the due date will be the Wednesday before winter break, December 19. Please see the attached project description and rubric. Cadets will have a quiz Wednesday on atomic structure and the periodic table, their summative will br Friday, December 15 on all of the above.
